Counselling

Hi there, my name is Bonnie. I am a Queer Taiwanese-Canadian (they/them) who currently resides on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations – also known as the Vancouver Lower Mainland. I am an individual of diverse interest in the arts, new media, and the advancement in quality of life in others. My mission is to motivate, guide, and advocate, and to help people who need support by empowering them to make informed decisions in their community. I believe that healing begins when we can find safe spaces where we can be unapologetically and whole-heartedly ourselves, without fear of judgement. I hope that I can have the opportunity to provide that safe space for you.

Clinically, I began providing counselling services in 2014 and since then, my background in counselling has included working at Fraser River Counselling, Douglas College, Sources Community Society, the University of the Fraser Valley, and Fraser Health. I work from a trauma-informed, client-centered perspective and I have had the privilege to walk alongside a multitude of individuals ranging from children to teens, adults, couples, and families.

At the post-secondary level, I engage with students who have or are currently experiencing crises relating to academics and mental health, with concerns including procrastination, time management, career exploration, anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, low self-esteem, addictions, family conflict, cross-culture issues, sexual/physical/relational trauma, LGBTQ+, and exploration of personal identity.

Academically, I have a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Counselling Psychology from Kwantlen Polytechnic University and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Trinity Western University. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (Member #16334) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (Member #10003368). I am also a professional member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association, and the Membership Promotion Director of the British Columbia Post-Secondary Counsellors Association.

Additionally, I have completed specialized training in the following:

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy

  • Emotion-Focused Family Therapy

  • ASIST: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

  • safeTALK: Suicide Alertness for Everyone

  • Observed & Experiential Integration Level I & II

  • Sand Tray / Rice Tray Workshop

  • Gottman Level 1: Bridging the Couple Chasm

Please note: at this time, I am not accepting new clients.
